Gymnastics Monday April 25

 Gymnastics

We will begin gymnastics in our regularly scheduled gym classes on Monday, April 25th.  The gymnastics unit will last two weeks.  Safety routines, cooperation and sportsmanship are taught and reviewed in each class.

This physical activity opportunity will help students acquire individual skills through a variety of developmentally appropriate movement activities.

It is important for students to come to school prepared for being actively engaged. The following guidelines are very helpful…

Head ....................... long hair pulled back

Ears/Throat/Wrist ............... jewellery off

Shirt.................................. one layer shirt

Waist ................................................tucked in

Pants.........................sporty pants or shorts, no belts or zippers

Ankles..........................pants rolled up if ankles are covered

Toes...............running shoes, gymnastic slippers or bare feet (no footed tights)

FITNESS BINGO AT LBS!

All of the classes at Lake Bonavista School are participating in a fitness bingo challenge from February 23-April 8! We wanted to share the bingo card with you so you can continue the fun at home! At school, each time a class completes a ‘blackout’ bingo card, they will be added to a draw and entered to win bonus recess time! If your family complete all of the exercises on a bingo card at your house, please notify your classroom teacher and your child’s class will receive an additional entry in the draw.

Each exercise on the bingo card is to be completed in an interval style - 20 seconds of the exercise, followed by 10 seconds of rest. In order to cross the activity off of your bingo card you must complete a minimum of 4 interval sets. If some of the exercises are unfamiliar, please ask your child to teach you the movement.

Feel free to check out the video below for a further explanation of the bingo challenge.

Cancelling an order

If you need to cancel a lunch you can do that until the cut-off period which is 5 days before each lunch and get a refund. With more absences due to symptoms cancelling in advance may not always be an option.

Lunch Delivery

On the specified day lunch is delivered to the school for the students. We will require a few volunteers to help distribute to the classes, so please ensure you are on our volunteer contact list if you are available to help.

Please remember to pack a snack and water in addition to the fun lunch order. Please pack a complete lunch if you did not order that day.

Missed Fun Lunches

For those times you miss the option to cancel, and your child won’t be there due to sickness or any other reason, we ask that you please contact the school by 11:30am on the day of Fun Lunch to choose an option.
Your options are:

  • -  Pick the lunch up by the end of the day.

  • -  Send it home with a sibling.

  • -  Donate it to the staff room.

We are unable to give these lunches to another child without their guardian’s consent. Any lunches that are not claimed by the end of the day will be composted.

    Online schooling

In the event your class or the whole school is moved to online learning before the cut-off date, we can cancel the orders and receive refunds. If the move online occurs within the 5 days leading up to the lunch, the process is different. If the restaurant has not begun making the orders, the orders will be cancelled and a credit for that amount will be kept in your account for another order.

    Questions

Please contact the funlunchlbs@gmail.com for any questions regarding Fun Lunch orlbsvolunteercoordinator@gmail.com regarding your volunteer status.

Team Seas Bottle Drive

 Hello Families,

From December 13-16, the Grade 4/5s will be collecting as many refundables as we can before sending our fundraising money to #teamseas. They have done a great job so far educating other on the importance of recycling and the process refundables go through, when they are recycled and brought to the bottle depot.

Next week will be our last push before we send our donation to #teamseas to help reduce the amount of waste in our oceans and river systems.

The Refundable Drive will be held from Monday, December 13th to Thursday, December 16th . This is up to the students to collect, wash out, and bring to school their refundables. We ask that they are washed out and school appropriate. Each evening from the 13th – 16th the grade 4/5 teachers will take the refundables to the Bottle Depot in hopes we will meet the students’ goal of raising $100 which will result in 100 pounds of trash being taken out of the ocean.

If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to email me.

Have a great weekend!

Ms Mumford
